Pastor Eric Haley Pastor Eric was born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, graduating from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1973. He met the Lord Jesus during his junior high years, and soon became involved in a coffeehouse ministry organized by a friend named Joe Bell called "The Natural High". Eric was convinced during his high school days that he was called to the ministry, but he didn't follow through with that calling.
During the years that followed high school, he joined the Air Force, where he met his wife, Margie Atanacio. The two were married by Don McClure, an associate pastor at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California in 1975. After the Air Force, Eric and Margie settled in Lafayette in 1978, and raised 8 children.
When Joe Bell became the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel of Lafayette in 1982, Eric and Margie were charter members of the small church plant, where they were trained in the Word of God and learned what it was like to start a church from scratch. In 1988, they moved to Burrows, in Carroll County. After serving under Joe Bell's ministry for nineteen years, the Lord began to speak to Eric again about the calling on his own life, and the need to reach out to his own community.
In September of 2001, Calvary Chapel of Lafayette commissioned Eric to begin a new work in Carroll County. The small fellowship met in his home for almost two years as Eric was in training for the ministry and he continued to work on the side doing bookbinding and Bible repair and selling books online.
In June of 2003, the fellowship became an affiliate church of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. In July of the same year, the church moved into a corner storefront on the Courthouse Square in Delphi and began a coffeehouse ministry called The Well, which lasted for two years. After The Well closed, the church met in an auction barn and a middle school gym, before finally arriving at its current location at The Wabash and Erie Canal Conference Center.
Eric was licensed by Calvary Chapel of Lafayette in April of 2002 and ordained in September of 2003.
